Class Response

In class one day we went outside and played a game. The point of the game was to learn about predator and prey. I thought it was really fun. I also learned that it isn't as easy as it looks to be the predator. Sometimes it hurts, for instance when I stabbed myself with one of the toothpicks. Also, it was hard because some of them blended in, but some was easy because they stood out. I really thought that the game we played was effective but fun, and i really enjoyed.

Child Psychology: Tips on Taming the 'Boogie Monster'

The article is about parents who are worried about their little kids from the ages of 4 to 7. The parents are scared because their little son or daughter are scared of any real or imaginary creatures during anytime of the day. So researches studied around 50 kids, and read them some illustrated children books. All of the kids were asked some questions like why they felt scared, and how they can change it to make them less frightening . Researches found out children would rather think happy, or positive thoughts. An example from the article was "Let's pretend the dragon is nice." Most of the little boys thought of fighting, and adventure. While the girls just wanted basically wanted to get rid of the creature. While the little kids thought positive, the older kids just used a reality check. An example in the article was "Dragons aren't real."

My personal opinion is that I think it is a really good idea. The parents won't worry and the kids won't be afraid. Now that the subject was researched about, kids won't be afraid of "the monster in the closet", or the "boogie-man." Using methods can change the behavior of both the children and the parents. For example, when I was younger I used to get afraid if I thought I saw something, but I would just think to myself, and say that it was only my head. Nothing is really there.

Eating Sweets Every Day In Childhood 'Increases Adult Aggression'

This article was about children at the age of ten who eat candy everyday. They say when they grow up they will end up being aggressive when older. They think this will happen because if you give little kids sweets everyday for absolutely no reason, they won't learn or understand how to wait for something you desire. Not being able to wait or put off what you want until you earn it can make them behave aggressively later in life.
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/10/

I think that this article is right. I think that if you don't know how to wait for any reward or a praise, not just candy, can change your behavior for the worst. It says in the article, "Targeting resources at improving children's diet may improve health and reduce aggression." I believe that if you change the kids diet and give them a reward when they do something good, not just because their young and it doesn't matter can change the way they behave when they are older.

Bullying ( Man's inhumanity to Man)

Our society can't put an end to bullying
because of the fear of one another. For example,
in Lord of the Flies, Jack acts so harshly to
Piggy because he is intimitated. Piggy is friends
with Ralph, the chief, who has the most power.
He is scared, and can't do anything about it, but
bully others.

Summer Reading Question

I read the book no more dead dogs. I imagine that the author of that book was the main character Wallace Wallace. I think this because usually when you right something it has to mean something to mean something to the author. I think that all those terrible things that happened to Wallace, happened to the author, Gordan Korman too. In addition, Wallace Wallace can't tell a lie, and I think that Gordan Korman can't either.

Welcome Science

My favorite subject is science because I like to do experiments.
The best book I ever read is Just Listen.
My favorite food to buy in the cafeteria is the Motzarella sticks.
On the weekend, when all my chores are done, I like to play outside.
If I won a free airline ticket to any place I wanted, I would go to Paris, because I would like to go shopping.
My favorite color is purple.
If I had a pet, it would be a dog, and I'd name it Muffin.
This year, if I work hard enough, I hope to get straight A's.
